New Month, New Journal

Wow, I have really been going through the journals this Summer! As I shared in a previous post (“4 Helpful Tips for Looking for a New Doctor”), I have been dealing with some health issues, and when I don’t feel well physically, the combination of being an HSP (Highly Sensitive Person) and feeling sick makes me more prone to feeling overwhelmed. So during those times, I pull even further inside, and I don’t connect much with friends… Thus, I write a lot more in my journal during those times!

Can you relate to this? What do you do when you feel overwhelmed?

How was the month of July for you? Did you write anything down in a journal or calendar?

Yesterday I reviewed my journal and calendar for the month of July, and here are a few highlights ~

~ My mantra was “Calm Down & Happy Up.”

~ Lots of very happy days: feeling happier and happier in my new nun chapter!

~ Thunderstorms and fireworks.

~ Feeling really in alignment with purpose.

~ Realization: My main job is to be happy.

~ I really LOVE blogging… I keep hearing that quote, “Do what you love, and the money will follow.” (Marsha Sinetar) And, my Mom said, “Consider yourself a writer. Period.”

~ Realization: I am really fringe!

~ Super grateful for donations to my work!

~ Enjoying birdsong and bugsong.

~ Put a Sun on it, sunshine girl.

~ Full of happy!

~ Praying for inner peace. One day at a time. Do what I can each day.

So… Now I am looking ahead to this brand new month of August, and here are my keywords: Humility, Patience, and Peace. As I continue blogging and making visits with dying hospice patients, I pray to be humble, patient, and peaceful.

And, once I approve the proofing copy of my new book (arriving in the mail today!), I will enjoy promoting the book (Reaching for Orange: Practices, Visualizations, & Blessings to Help You Happy Up Your Life) and leading healing circles, while feeling humble, patient, and peaceful. I will really enjoy the work, while feeling Happy, Happy, Happy!!!

What are your goals for August? What are your keywords and intentions?

I hope you enjoyed this post.
Happy August to you! 🙂

  1. I can totally relate to your experience when I feel overwhelmed. It feels like I need more time alone and more time to reflect over things. I’m wishing you the best in your healing! I second what your mom said: You are an awesome writer! Your blog, your writing style, and The Tejaswini Ramayana were helped me renew my purpose for my blog. I love how I can always find hope and positive-vibes in your blog no matter life circumstances. I relate to your realization “My job is to be happy.” I think it took me a long time to realize that life wasn’t about getting this or that. It was about ending the day feeling peaceful, love, happiness versus feeling stressed about everything. I love your choice of words for the month! Because of the move, the city still feels so new to me, so one of my intentions this month is to embrace adventure.

    1. Oh, Andrea, you are such my little angel! ❤
Thank you for your encouragement and support of my writing, it means so much to me… And I'm really so happy to hear that it helped you renew your purpose for your blog! I also love reading your positive posts! 🙂 And I'm happy to hear your intention to embrace adventure… that's a really good, high vibe attitude! Have fun exploring, what an exciting time for you… When does school start?

  2. I have an intuition that vigorous physical exercise will help you. Not just walking, getting your heart rate up over 100 (or whatever your age range target is) for 15 minutes a few times a week plus straining hard against weights – push those muscles! This will counter the over sensitivity.

I will be doing similar to rebuild my body.

    1. Thank you so much Bradley for your concern and intuition… the thing is, you and I have very different body types and our nervous systems are wired very differently! The heavy exercise you describe will be great for your body type, and I’m sure you will rebuild your body and feel much better… I’m not sure if I’m dealing with Fibromyalgia again or not, but if I am, the recommendation for people with Fibro is mild to moderate exercise only, because when someone with Fibro exercises strenuously, it often is a setback and causes pain and fatigue…

Also, there is a lot of science about the HSP (Highly Sensitive Person) trait, which is found not only in 15-20% of humans but also in about 100 other species, including cats, dogs, and birds…. and what this trait means is that the person (or animal/bird) was born with a highly sensitive nervous system… they have studied this and they can see that the nervous systems of HSPs are wired differently than the nervous systems of people who do not have this trait… you are not an HSP, so your nervous system is not as sensitive as mine… this is not something I’m going to counter with heavy exercise! On the contrary, when I do things that are over-stimulating, I get overwhelmed and then feel worse! So for me, just going for a 30-minute walk feels like plenty of exercise.

I know that you mean well with your suggestion… I know you would love to see me fully healthy and thriving… and I would love to see that also! But I don’t think I’m going to get there through heavy exercise… I’m going to see a new doctor on the 22nd and see what she thinks is going on with me… In the meantime, I really do appreciate you reading my posts and caring about me. I’ll keep you posted on what happens! And I’m send you lots of healing energies during this time of healing your body… ❤
