Refreshing AND Deepening

This is a follow-up to the blog I posted on Friday, “StarFire Teja’s StarFire Friday Prayer: May You Feel Refreshed” in which I wrote about how your intentions and guided imagery regularly need to be refreshed.

Perhaps you’ve already read a blog I posted in January called “Radiance & Darkness” in which I talked about how opposing forces can be simultaneously true. Well, I remembered that after posting the blog on Friday, thus I’m writing this follow-up.

While some prayers and visualizations get stale and need to be refreshed, the opposite is also true! Some prayers and spiritual practices can be done over and over and over, and you go deeper and deeper with them each time. Your deeper mind loves newness, and it also thrives on repetition. Both are true. As you try out the various practices suggested in these blogs, you will know when to let some go, and when to dive deeper into others. When you listen to your inner wisdom you will know when to refresh and when to deepen.

At the beginning of my new book I offer a section called Radiance Rising, which is an extended list of spiritual practices you can do while reading the book and beyond. One of the practices is a forty-verse chant called the Hanuman Chalisa (CD with versions of that chant by Krishna Das: Flow of Grace), and I have been singing that prayer daily for almost ten years. Talk about repetition!

After the section with spiritual practices, I tell the magical story of Rama and Sita, in my fantastical version of the Ramayana. Many people, including myself, study the Ramayana as a spiritual practice. Currently I am studying my own version on Sundays, and it really uplifts me for the following week.

I have been studying this ancient story from India for almost fifteen years, and while reading nearly one dozen versions, I have gone deeper into the meanings and I have also realized many applications to my daily life. When you read this book, you will recognize your own wisdom through the heroes of the tale.

StarFire Teja’s StarFire Friday Prayer: May You Feel Held By Something Greater

May your mind settle down and come to a nourishing still point.

May you listen to your body and lovingly give it what it needs.

May your weekend be healing, with moments of peace.

May you feel Held By Something Greater.

This weekend, take some time to nourish yourself on all levels: mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual.

Mental nourishment: To calm your mind, when you first wake up in the morning, spend a few moments setting your intentions for the day. Then, throughout the day, take a few minutes here and there to close your eyes and tune in again to your intentions for the day. At bedtime, quietly reflect on the day. Celebrate any small joys, and release any disappointments. Visualize your mind being filled with a calm, healing light that is nourishing every cell in your brain.

Physical nourishment: Did you know that your body is talking to you all the time? When you tune in to the body channel, you will hear it telling you what it needs. Perhaps it needs a little extra rest. Or maybe it needs a little extra pure water or a lot more dark green leafy vegetables. Visualize all of your 37.2 trillion cells being filled with warm healing energies.

Emotional nourishment: Take some time to reflect on how you process your feelings. Do you tend to brush them off and keep busy, or do you tend to over-indulge in them? In order to achieve healthy tendencies with the emotional realm, develop the habit of becoming the observer. As you watch any and all emotions flowing through you, practice allowing them to be just as they are, without trying to change them. And, at the same time, set the intentions that you are healing and that you are loving yourself no matter how you feel. Cultivate self-love, and visualize that love flowing out to all beings.

Spiritual nourishment: Perhaps you’ve read some of my past blogs with spiritual tips, such as “StarFire Teja’s Three Super Simple Spiritual Practices” in which I’ve shared fun ways to connect with your spiritual self. I am all about making spiritual practices do-able for people, because when you do spiritual practices you directly experience, in your body, what it feels like to know that you are Held By Something Greater. Visualize your entire being connected with every star in the sky, and imagine that the whole universe is vibrating and shining inside your heart. Allow that bright light to spread throughout your whole being, and then see it radiating out to all beings.

After your fantastic healing weekend, please come back here and share all about it in the comments below, down where it says “Leave a reply.”

And, to learn more simple spiritual practices, order a copy of my book, which is a magical new version of an ancient tale from India called the Ramayana. Before I begin the fantastical story, I offer a section called Radiance Rising, which is an extensive list of spiritual practices. You will love this book! Please order it today on Amazon: The Tejaswini Ramayana: The Way of Rama in the Shakahara StarFire Universes.

Get Your Mystic On!

A merry mirth-filled mystic lives inside your heart.

Did you know that a merry mirth-filled mystic lives inside your heart? A mystic is one who directly experiences the Divine. Depending on your religion or other cosmic belief system, you might think of your inner mystic in various ways, such as the Holy Spirit, God, Nature, or the Universe. And, depending on how you process information, you might experience your mystic through any or all of the following ways: visual images, sounds, feelings, or thoughts.

Many people assume that they should “see” guided imagery in their minds, when actually that is only one way to experience a visualization. For example, when I read or hear the following guided imagery, I do not see a visual picture in my mind, but rather I experience the images as feelings. This guided imagery is based on the wisdom of the ancient mystics of India, and it may help you to see or hear or feel your inner mystic.

Guided Imagery to Meet Your Mystic

As you are reading these words, beginning to settle in… to your inner world… and bringing your awareness to your body… just noticing any sensations in your body… and allowing your shoulders to settle down… and allowing relaxation to flow down through your whole body… and now bringing your attention to your heart center… and placing a hand on your heart… breathing love into your heart… imagining that inside your heart is a beautiful flower… a vibrant flower… inhaling the fragrance of this flower…

… and imagining that inside this flower is a bright light… this light is the size of a candle flame… and it is glowing like a billion golden suns… this golden flame is shining so bright that the flower petals are glowing… and that light is radiating out from the center of your flower… out through your heart… and into your whole body… that warm golden light is moving into all of your 37.2 trillion cells…

… focusing on that golden flame in the flower inside your heart… and feeling how that flame is your inner mystic… it is your deepest self… your highest mind… your connection with the Divine… and feeling yourself opening to the love of God (the Holy Spirit, Nature, the Universe)… receiving love from every direction… and sending love out in all directions… and feeling gratitude for this merry, mirth-filled mystic inside your heart… and knowing that you can return to connect with this flame in your heart anytime, anywhere… and returning to the outer world, feeling refreshed and energized…

How did it feel to read that? Please share your experience in the comments below.

In addition to simple visualizations like this, you can meet your inner mystic through regular spiritual practices, such as the ones described in the Radiance Rising section at the beginning of my new book, The Tejaswini Ramayana: The Way of Rama in the Shakahara StarFire Universes. This book is a new version of a very ancient story from India, called the Ramayana. Millions of people love this magical tale, and many read it regularly as a way to meet their inner mystic. Applying The Tejaswini Ramayana in Your Daily Life

Recently my Mom, who is Catholic, was reading my version of the Ramayana, and one morning she said that she was struggling with some negativities, and then she thought, “I need Shiva to remind me that I’m a positive person!” She jokingly told me that the alarms should have been sounding!

In my version of the Ramayana, Lord Shiva makes a Plan for helping to keep the Avatars elevated. You see, even Divine Incarnations cannot always remember their divinity because they are in human bodies which are susceptible to great forgetfulness. Most of us regularly experience this spiritual amnesia, which is why we need frequent reminders of our divine nature. That is why I do daily spiritual practices and that is also why I work to inspire others to do spiritual practices. When we remember who we truly are, we feel happier and more positive about life.

The joke about the alarms sounding refers to a strategy that Shiva devises in my version, The Tejaswini Ramayana: The Way of Rama in the Shakahara StarFire Universes, to help keep the divine monkeys elevated. When you read this ancient tale, embellished with my touches of fantastical science fiction elements, you will see many ways that it applies to your daily life.

I very much look forward to hearing from you about how this book applies to your life!

StarFire Teja’s StarFire Friday Prayer: May You Feel Loved

May you feel goodness within you and surrounding you.

May you celebrate your strengths and virtues.

May your weekend be blessed with tenderness.

May you feel loved, especially by yourself.

A few years ago I watched a video in which lots of people said “I love you” while looking right into the camera. Even though I did not know any of those people, I felt such warmth. Watching that video just melted my heart. I wanted to share it with you here, but alas, I have not been able to find it again. However, in my search, a friend shared this sweet video, that also warms the heart: “I love you in 100 languages in 2 minutes.”

In that video, I think it is so cute and precious how some of the people laugh after saying “I love you.” It seems that perhaps they are embarrassed? To me it shows just how potent those three words can be, and it definitely shows the power of language. Our words do matter. Our words convey our feelings. Some people are more comfortable expressing feelings and openly showing love. Take me for example, I would feel comfortable saying “I love you” more often to more people. I’m the kind of person that signs emails with “much love” or “lots of love” but I’ve noticed that other people are not as comfortable in freely using the word “love.”

Have you noticed the trend in recent years for “professional” people to end emails and texts with “Best” before signing their name? What do you think of that? When I see “Best” it feels a little cold, and I feel brushed off. So I took to typing “Warmly” before signing my name… but only in correspondence where it is inappropriate to gush my usual love!

I am curious to know if you sign with “Best” and if you do, what does that mean to you? Please share your thoughts in the comments below. I am open to changing my view on this!

May you feel loved, especially by yourself.
In the Radiance Rising section at the beginning of my new book, I offer an extended list of spiritual practices, and one of them is specifically about cultivating self-love.
