A Tool for Chronic Pain and Anxiety: Focus On Your Feet

Are you dealing with chronic pain or anxiety? If you experience pain on any level (physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual), or if you struggle with anxiety, you can try this simple tool and see if it helps:

Focus on your feet.

The feet are the farthest away from the brain, and the brain is what perceives pain and creates anxiety… So, bringing your awareness down to your feet can really calm your mind and soothe your nerves.

Anytime you feel pain or anxiety increasing, think to yourself (or say out loud), “Focus on my feet.” Bring your full awareness down to your feet and notice how your feet feel… Imagine breathing in and out of your feet… Imagine that your feet are becoming very warm and very heavy… Feel the soles of your feet and imagine that they are glowing in a bright golden light… Notice any changing sensations in your feet as you focus on them…

The nice thing about this tool is you can use it anytime, anywhere. You can focus on your feet during a stressful business meeting, or while standing in the grocery line, or while driving. Anytime you feel hyped up, during the day or the night, you can simply focus on your feet.

StarFire Teja’s StarFire Friday Blessing: May You Embrace Change


May you see the Consciousness moving through everything.

May you feel how all things are connected.

May your weekend be blessed with understanding and simple joys.

May you embrace change.


The winds of change are rocking the planet, both literally and metaphorically. Both can be upsetting to the nervous system, especially for highly sensitive persons (HSPs). But even if you aren’t highly sensitive, the physical wind outside can be a force that rattles the nerves. Does the wind ever bother you?

If the wind bothers you, it can help to re-frame your thoughts about it. Instead of thinking of the wind as irritating, try thinking of it as exciting. It is a natural force that has the power to move energy from place to place. It’s about change. And change can be exciting.

Change is the nature of life on Earth, and it has always been constant, but lately the times seem to be changing at a faster pace. When change feels scary or unsettling, it can help to focus on your feet, and to focus on the ground beneath your feet. Breathing down into your feet, which are the farthest away from your brain, can help to calm your nerves.

This next week we will change to a new season, and shortly after that we will complete the first quarter of 2019. So it is a good time to take a look at the goals you set for the year. Are you living in alignment with those goals, or do you need to make some changes in your trajectory?

StarFire Teja’s Three Tips to Reduce Anxiety

1. Focus on your feet. ~ The feet are the farthest away from your brain, so when your mind is swirling with anxious thoughts, think to yourself “Focus on my feet” and then bring your attention down to your feet. Imagine that your feet are becoming very warm and heavy. Or imagine that your feet are sprouting roots that are reaching right down into the Earth, grounding you by connecting you with the solid crust of the Earth.

2. Bring your awareness to your heart and belly centers. ~ Place one hand on your heart and the other hand on your belly, and feel the warm healing energies from your hands going into your heart and belly centers. While feeling the sensations in your heart and belly, allow peaceful scenes from nature to flow through your mind. Imagine that you are becoming peaceful like a flowing stream and strong like a solid mountain.

3. Shaking your body. ~ Gently shake your arms, legs, hips, hands and feet. While gently shaking your body, imagine that all of your nervous energies are shaking right out of your body, and watch your anxieties shaking down into the Earth… down through the Earth’s crust, and all the way down through the layers of Deep Earth, and then into the hot ball of iron at center of the Earth. Visualize your anxieties melting and burning in that hot ball of fire!
