Monday Morning Musings on Gratitude

Who remembers the Bob Marley song “Three Little Birds”??? ~ “Rise up this morning, Smile with the rising sun, Three little birds, Pitched by my doorstep, Singing sweet songs…”

And do you recall what those little birds were saying? They were singing, “Don’t worry ’bout a thing, ‘Cause every little thing gonna be all right.” (You can enjoy the song here: Three Little Birds.)

My first musing this morning is about how much I love the bird beings. Do you also love birds? It seems to me that they have a pretty wonderful existence, since they are able to soar through the skies of this beautiful planet. Listening to birds sing brings such joy to my mind. Even if I am feeling sad, hearing the birds brings a smile of gratitude to my heart. How do you feel when you hear birdsong?

Certain things, like birds singing, just naturally evoke a feeling of gratitude, which is wonderful because gratitude lights up neural networks in the brain, and then the brain releases the feel-good neurotransmitters, dopamine and serotonin, which bring feelings of love, happiness, and contentment! Did you know that a bird’s singing can literally light up your brain and make you feel better? The human brain is so fascinating! This musing leads me to feel the mind-blowing inter-connectedness of Everything. Can you feel it also?

So… This week is Thanksgiving week in the U.S., but all humans on Earth should cultivate gratitude every week! Consciously practicing gratitude 365 days per year strengthens those neural pathways that help us to happy up long-term!

Gratitude also strengthens the immune system, relieves anxiety and depression, and increases positivity, inspiration, and motivation.

And, my next musing is about how Gratitude generates the energy of Love. When we feel grateful for something, we naturally feel love for that something. Gratitude and Love arise together, like the two wings of the same bird. You can’t separate them. So, a few years ago I went through a phase on Facebook in which I created posts that were like gratitude lists, but instead of saying “I’m grateful” I said “iLove”…

For example: “iLove amethyst crystals, iLove Sunshine, iLove hot black coffee, iLove Gabe, iLove Zak, iLove Mom & Dad, iLove chanting, iLove barefoot hiking, iLove blogging” and so on! Obviously it was a play on Apple’s “i” everything, and I thought it was pretty witty though I’m not sure anyone else appreciated the wit like I did! Oh well, at least I enjoyed the process! 🙂

So, dear readers, are you feeling inspired now to make a gratitude list? If so, please visit my Gratitude~Up Community Page, where you can share your gratefulness 24/7…

I hope you enjoyed reading this morning’s musings. I sure enjoyed writing them!

May you feel the Love of the Gratitude Vibration!

With much gratitude and love,

Gratitude That Life Is Not Hard Now

Last night I was writing in my journal, and I spontaneously wrote a gratitude list which included good food, shelter, hot showers, good drinking water, good coffee, a nice room, good people, doing what I love, and following my passions.

Next I wrote, “I’m feeling wealthy, satisfied, and content. Despite all my body’s aches and pains, I am in a comfortable living situation, I am taken care of, I can write and serve others and go for walks in the nice neighborhood. Even though life has felt hard for a long time, it is not hard now. Through the generosity of others, God is providing.”

In April I added a Gratitude~Up community page to this website. Recently a few close friends shared that they do not feel comfortable sharing their gratitude lists publicly. I respect their need for privacy, and I understand if you feel the same way. However, if you would like to have your gratitude list witnessed by others, please feel free to add yours to the Gratitude~Up page.

Are you feeling grateful today?

I hope that your life is not feeling hard now, but if it is, then I send you healing energies and strength to help you cope until your life shifts into a more comfortable phase.

I hope this post was helpful to you in some way.

Thank you for reading the StarFire Teja Blog!

Questions That Can Arise When the Hardship is Real

Do you think that life is a “gift”?
Do you feel grateful to be alive?

A few years ago I was helping a client work on her fear of flying, using guided imagery techniques. She was an upper middle class woman with a happy and healthy family, and she felt afraid of dying because she loved her life so much. At the time I was about to begin my seventh year of my decade of hardships, and I could not relate to her fear of dying because I no longer felt attached to my life. After a session with her, I reflected back to happier, easier times, and I remembered a time when a younger me was the one sitting in a therapist’s office working on my own fear of flying…

Many people say we “should” feel grateful to be alive. They say that life is a “gift” to be treasured. Recently I sat with a dying woman who was over one hundred years old. She told me that she was trying to keep alive… and she died the very next night. When she told me that she was trying to keep living, I thought, “Wow, here she is on her deathbed (literally) and she is still hanging on to life.” Once again, I could not relate to how attached she felt to her life.

As I explained in a previous post (“It Is Your Duty To Live”), I would never commit suicide, and I am not depressed. (I get situationally depressed at times, such as during a Fibromyalgia flare-up, but I am not depressed in general.) I love my friends and family dearly, and I enjoy many things in my life. My gratitude lists are quite long. I am basically a happy person, but ten years of hardships have taken away my attachment to life, and have made me question why we are here on this planet.

On Mother’s Day I shared a post (“Something All Eight Billion Humans Have in Common”) about how we were all born from a mother, and one person commented, “Without our consent.”

I usually reply to comments, but that one just stopped me cold. I still can’t think of what to say in response. I am guessing that perhaps that person is not currently thinking that life is a gift to be grateful for. As a parent, it makes me ask questions like, “If my children do not appreciate their lives, am I somehow responsible because I am the one who chose to give them their lives?”

Many spiritual teachers in India talk about how special and precious it is to be born as a human being. I’m thinking maybe that was true four thousand years ago when there were a lot less humans on the planet. Now that there are eight billion of us, how special is it, really?

Perhaps my inquiries are entirely colored by this past decade of hardships. Maybe this next decade will be easier and my views will change again.

I would love to hear your views on all this. Do you feel grateful to be alive? Do you think of life as a gift?

Do you celebrate each sunrise?
Do you feel grateful for each new day?

How the Gratitude Vibration Brought a Happy Tablet

Are you feeling grateful today?

Here are some fun facts for you: gratitude not only helps your immune system to be healthier, but it also brings abundance into your life.

Recently I was working with increasing my gratitude, and I created a Gratitude~Up community page on this website. You are invited to visit the Gratitude~Up page anytime to post your gratitude lists. Sharing your gratitude gives it more power.

While I was working on my gratitude, one of my brothers offered to send me a tablet, which was like a miraculous answer to my prayers for more abundance coming into my life. You see, my old laptop no longer allows me to access sites like PayPal, so my options were becoming limited. But now, with my happy tablet, I am back in business, both literally and metaphorically! With the tablet I was able to take the fun photo* attached to this article, and also to create a Donate page on this site.

I can’t promise that you’ll receive a tablet if you increase your gratitude, but what I can tell you is this: when you are feeling grateful, that feeling state creates a powerful energy of gratitude, and that gratitude vibration opens your energy field to allow more abundance to flow into your life.

Please visit the Gratitude~Up page and share your gratitude list today!

May your happiness and abundance increase!
