A Shout-Out to WordPress

Dear readers,

I am not getting paid for this post… and, well, I haven’t gotten paid for the other 323 posts I’ve published on this blog either! 🙂 (A while back I shared about my non-salesperson status in a post, “Realizing (Again) That I Am Not a Salesperson!”)

Due to my homebound status (thanks to Fibromyalgia and an Anxiety Disorder), I am not working at a job, but I still want to be of helpful service to others, in ways that are doable for me… And writing helpful blog posts continues to be not only manageable, but quite enjoyable…

Blogging would not be so enjoyable if it weren’t for WordPress. It is so incredibly user-friendly. I am somewhat savvy with computers, and I don’t have much patience for sites that are not easy to navigate. WordPress is truly outstanding in that aspect.

I really love how WordPress sends out notification emails when people like and comment on my posts. And the tagline at the bottom of their emails is pretty witty-adorable: “Thanks for flying with WordPress.com.”

For those who pay for a WordPress plan, live chat support is available from “Happiness Engineers”… How cute is that? On that page, it says, “Our Happiness Engineers can answer any questions that you have about WordPress.com, how it works, and how best to use it.”

Well, since I’m blogging as a helpful service to others and making zero income from it (thusfar), I am not paying for a plan with WordPress, but because WordPress is so well designed, I have not even once needed to ask them for support. That says a lot, doesn’t it?

Thanks for visiting this online StarFire Temple of Happiness. I hope you enjoyed my shout-out to WordPress.

May you be bright, merry, and healthy!

With much gratitude and positive vibes,
StarFire Teja

The Matter of Hope

“Hope is important, because it can make the present moment less difficult to bear. If we believe that tomorrow will be better, we can bear a hardship today. But that is the most that hope can do for us — to make some hardship lighter. When I think deeply about the nature of hope, I see something tragic. Since we cling to our hope in the future, we do not focus our energies and capabilities on the present moment.”
~ Thich Nhat Hanh, Zen Buddhist Master, in his book Peace Is Every Step: The Path of Mindfulness in Everyday Life.

Dear readers, during this strange time it seems that most of us need hope to lighten the load of our global hardships. And, even while we cling to hope for the future, we can simultaneously try to remain focused on the present moment.

Thich Nhat Hanh continues, “I do not mean that you should not have hope, but that hope is not enough. Hope can create an obstacle for you, and if you dwell in the energy of hope, you will not bring yourself back entirely into the present moment. If you re-channel those energies into being aware of what is going on in the present moment, you will be able to make a breakthrough and discover joy and peace right in the present moment, inside of yourself and all around you.”

Are you able to enjoy the present moment now? During this time of quarantines, do you feel hopeful or hopeless?

Before my Dad died suddenly in January, I had been struggling for some time with feelings of hopelessness regarding my health and financial issues. Now, suddenly millions of people are homebound and worried about money like I was! I never would have dreamed this could happen.

Strangely, I am actually feeling more hope now than I did before… And even if hope is not enough, right now it is very important. If you feel hopeless, consider these strong words by Christian Mihai, in his post “Life in The Time of Coronavirus”:

“I encourage each and every single one of you to not become hopeless. It’s a sin not to hope. Truly. If you are hopeless, you think of yourself as helpless, and then you’re really screwed. Maintain a positive attitude, make the best out of an awful situation, and keep working towards your goals. One way or another.”

May you be blessed with hope, courage, and strength. May you take delight in small joys and find peace dwelling in the energies of each sacred moment.

With much love and hope,
StarFire Teja

Purification Prayer

Dear God, the Supreme Light within and without,

I am sorry for any harm that I’ve ever caused anyone, anywhere.

I am sorry for any judgment that I’ve ever cast without the understanding to transmit compassion instead.

I am sorry for all the times that I’ve allowed irritation or anger to overpower loving-kindness in my thoughts, words, and actions.

Please purify me.

Please cleanse my spirit of all negativities and dis-eases.

Please help me to surrender everything to You, the Supreme Divinity, within and without.

Om Namah Shivaya*,
I bow to the Pure Consciousness in me, that is also in everyone and everything,
StarFire Teja

* Om Namah Shivaya essentially carries the same meaning as the teaching of Jesus: “The Kingdom of God is within you.” ❤

Last Fire

Dear readers,

We never know when we might be having our last conversation, sipping our last cuppa coffee, or lighting our last fire… For this reason, the wise sages advise us to keep death always close to our minds. This may seem like a morbid, negative teaching, but actually the essence of the teaching is for us to live life positively, with joy and with zest!

The fire in the photo with this post was one of the last fires my Dad lit, a couple of months before he died. It was a joyous time, with family gathered around… He loved making fires, but he did not know that that fire was to be one of his last…

I have fire on the brain today, because yesterday I met with my psychologist and she suggested that I write my Dad a letter about my guilt and regrets with him, and then burn the letter so that the ashes and smoke will take the written words to him in the spirit realms.

Soon I will write that letter and then burn it in his beloved fire pit. I may cry when I do that ritual, or maybe I will smile in gratitude for all the fires and cups of coffee and conversations I got to enjoy with him during the past two years. (Btw, I had thought that being a boomeranger at my age was so terrible, but now it seems like a blessing because I got to live with him for the last two years of his life.)

Dear ones, try to be so grateful for the beloved people in your life… And try to enjoy each moment with as much zest as you can muster!

With gratitude and fire sparks,

Powerful Practices with Your Cuppa Coffee

Dear readers,

Greetings from Indiana! In this post I will happily share some suggestions for practices you can do to supercharge your cuppa coffee (or tea) and thus infuse yourself with positivity and high vibes! ~

~ Before taking that first sip, offer your cuppa to Something Greater than yourself… And then say some prayers or intentions… For example, I offer my cuppa to Hanuman, who is an aspect of Divinity in Hinduism. He represents pure devotion, love, courage, strength, and positive energies. So after offering the coffee, I say an affirmation like, “I am drinking positive energies and thinking positive thoughts.” ~ Try this for yourself, in your own way, and experience the power of your mind!

~ As you take those first few sips (which in my experience are the very best sips in the cup), practice the art of savoring… For just a moment or two, focus all of your mental energies on tasting and experiencing those sips. Imagine you are becoming one with the coffee. ~ You may find that those few moments become your favorite part of the whole day!

~ After savoring the first sips, take a moment to cultivate Gratitude by appreciating everything that has gone into the manifestation of your cuppa coffee. As the coffee beans grew on the trees, there were many elements that sustained and surrounded them such as sunshine, earth, rain, wind, flowers, leaves, trees, birdsong, and starlight… And then the beans were harvested by the work of human hands… And remember to also be grateful for the powerful high vibration energies inherent in those magical beans! ~ This moment of appreciation will send gratitude vibrations out to all the realms, which will come back to you as many beautiful gifts. Watch for their arrival in your life!

If you have been following my blog for a while, then you know that I am a lover of black coffee! Do you like it black also? If not, if you must add something white to your cuppa, please consider a coconut milk creamer… The cows will bless you with their gratitude vibrations! And Holy Coconut Shells, the Organic Coconut Milk Creamer by So Delicious is truly so delicious! Check it out here: Simply 5 Ingredients.

Dear reader, I hope you enjoyed reading this post as much as I enjoyed writing it for you… 🙂

With positivity and high vibes,
