“The air in a jar is one with the air everywhere. In like manner, your Atman is one with Brahman.”
~ from Shankara’s Crest-Jewel of Discrimination (Viveka-Chudamani) translated by Swami Prabhavananda and Christopher Isherwood.
Your “Atman” is the Pure Spirit within you, and “Brahman” is the Great Spirit that is in everything and everyone… Also described as the individual soul and the Great Soul or the Radiant Supreme Reality!
The revered Indian sage-philosopher Adi Shankara (686-718 A.D.) made these concepts very easy to understand with the jar analogy above. If a jar (a human body) breaks (dies), the air (Spirit) within the jar (body) naturally joins the air (Great Spirit) outside of the jar (body)!
I simply love this teaching and I am so grateful that a couple of nights ago, whilst sitting in deep meditation, I suddenly remembered the jar!
When you read this teaching, can you feel yourself connecting spiritually way outside of yourself? Can you feel your spirit soaring out horizontally, vertically, and through many stacked diagonal energy lines?
Mentally soaring, like the wild geese through the holy sunrise, can you feel that your Spirit is part of the Supreme Great Spirit?
It’s All One Love Energy!
With gratitude and a shining glimpse of Reality,
