Reaching for Orange to Calm Your Mind

Dear readers, yesterday was yet another bad day in the body. I used to have a more balanced mix of good days and bad days, but lately I’ve had quite the run of bad days, making me ask the question, “Did I not appreciate the good days enough when I had them?” But I did appreciate them, so much. In fact, right before this run of bad days began, I had very gratefully enjoyed so many good days that I almost couldn’t remember what the bad days were like…

I guess I needed a reminder… Geesh!

Anyhow, yesterday was not good, and my mind was beginning to get a little anxious about it… As anyone with chronic health issues knows, it is an ongoing struggle to maintain positivity when the body doesn’t feel well… And once the mind begins reacting negatively, difficult emotions flow from the negative thoughts… So, yesterday when that began happening, I took out my new book, Reaching for Orange, and spent the day reading it cover to cover! (“Spiritual helper, help thyself!”)

Reading Reaching for Orange helped me to happy up, just as the subtitle promises! I have read this book many times, and this time I especially enjoyed the Blessings section. I read all of the blessings out loud, and I felt calmed, soothed, and elevated as I allowed myself to deeply receive all of those blessings.

“Blessings can be vibrant transmissions of living consciousness.” ~ Reaching for Orange: Practices, Visualizations, & Blessings to Help You Happy Up Your Life.

If you regularly read my blog posts, then you know that I post blessings for you on Fridays… Tomorrow I will share a few blessings from Reaching for Orange, from the section of blessings to help with depression. Whether or not you feel depressed, you can enjoy tomorrow’s uplifting blessings.

Unfortunately today is worse than yesterday, so thankfully this afternoon I am going to see my new doctor. I am hoping for a diagnosis that will help me to better understand this body. If you feel inspired to send me some good thoughts, healing energies, blessings, prayers, magical mojo, or whatnot, I will gratefully receive them!

Thank you so much for reading this post.
May you feel great love in your whole being!

With gratitude and trust in the mysteries,
Teja

Spiritual Care for the Sunset Chapter

Dear readers,

Happy Monday to you! As I sip my happy black coffee in my happy orange mug, I am feeling grateful that I do not feel dizzy today. Last week I had a run of bad days in which I experienced dizziness for seven days. Thankfully I have an appointment with my new doctor this Thursday. Hopefully she will figure out what causes my bad days.

Anyhow, yesterday was my first good day without dizziness, and I enjoyed creating a new page on my website. The Sunset~Chapter page describes my offering of online spiritual care to the dying and their families during the sunset chapter. Here is the first paragraph, in which I explain the symbolism:

“The Sunset Chapter is the last chapter as the sun is going down at the end of the book of life. Chapter one begins with birth, the sunrise… the middle chapters are the days and nights of the lifetime, with a sunset each night to help us practice letting go (of each day), in preparation for the ultimate letting go of our lives at the last sunset, at the end of the last chapter.”

This online offering is one more way that I hope to serve others – as part of my ministry as a spiritual helper who works to elevate the human species to healthier and happier vibrations.

Last week, due to all those bad days, I was not able to visit my hospice patients, but I’m really hoping to feel better and be able to make some visits this week.

Please check out my new offering, and keep it in mind for future reference, for when you might know someone who is dying and needs spiritual care support. Here is my new page: Sunset~Chapter.

Thank you for reading this post!
I hope you enjoy your week! 🙂

Bright Blessings for Goodness,
Teja

The Helper Who Helps the Helpers

What are your roles now? Have your roles changed much throughout your life?

For some people, their roles are clear and set, such as a man who is a husband, father, and salesman for fifty years, and then he is still a husband and father when he becomes a retired salesman and grandfather.

For other people, their roles are unclear and ever changing. Take me for example! In this post I will share about my experiences with roles, and I invite you to share about yours in the comments below.

Beyond my steady roles in relationships, such as daughter, sister, sister-in-law, mother, former wife, aunt, and friend, my roles out in the working world have been unclear and ever changing. If you read my biography (on the About Page, or in the “About the Author” section of my new book, Reaching for Orange: Practices, Visualizations, & Blessings to Help You Happy Up Your Life), you will see that I have trained in many areas… And for many years I wanted to get a masters degree in social work or mental health therapy, but that didn’t happen. For a long time I felt drawn to working with prisoners, veterans, and other highly traumatized populations.

But then I experienced trauma myself.

I had learned all about PTSD (Post-traumatic stress disorder) in theory, but to feel it in my own mind and body was earth-shattering and rocked my entire world. Now that the dust has settled, and I am 97-98% healed from the trauma, I am re-evaluating my roles once again.

I no longer feel drawn to work with traumatized groups. I feel that I need to protect the 2-3% of trauma still remaining in my system. The counselor who I worked with told me that typically 2% of trauma remains even after a person has healed, because the trauma will always be a part of the person.

Some people, who are probably not HSPs (Highly Sensitive Persons) like me, do their own healing and then are able to jump right in and help others who have been through similar traumas. But I don’t know if I will ever be able to work directly with traumatized people… So, I am beginning to think that perhaps one of my roles as a spiritual helper is to support other people who are willing and able to work directly with traumatized people. Maybe I will be the helper who helps the helpers!

Do you work with traumatized people? If so, I bow to you for doing that difficult and important work. Do you sometimes feel like you take in the trauma energies of those you work with? Do you ever feel overwhelmed and need a sanctuary in which to nourish yourself? If so, you are among some of the people who will benefit the most from reading my new book, Reaching for Orange: Practices, Visualizations, & Blessings to Help You Happy Up Your Life. (Please also see my post, “23 Possible Benefits You May Gain Through Reading Reaching for Orange.”)

My current roles beyond relationships are blogger, author, and hospice volunteer. Visiting with dying patients and their families is very rewarding. I enjoy offering spiritual support, and I am not afraid of helping others work with their difficult emotions. I especially love helping others to relax with guided imagery tools.

What are your current roles in life?
