Reaching for Orange to Calm Your Mind

Dear readers, yesterday was yet another bad day in the body. I used to have a more balanced mix of good days and bad days, but lately I’ve had quite the run of bad days, making me ask the question, “Did I not appreciate the good days enough when I had them?” But I did appreciate them, so much. In fact, right before this run of bad days began, I had very gratefully enjoyed so many good days that I almost couldn’t remember what the bad days were like…

I guess I needed a reminder… Geesh!

Anyhow, yesterday was not good, and my mind was beginning to get a little anxious about it… As anyone with chronic health issues knows, it is an ongoing struggle to maintain positivity when the body doesn’t feel well… And once the mind begins reacting negatively, difficult emotions flow from the negative thoughts… So, yesterday when that began happening, I took out my new book, Reaching for Orange, and spent the day reading it cover to cover! (“Spiritual helper, help thyself!”)

Reading Reaching for Orange helped me to happy up, just as the subtitle promises! I have read this book many times, and this time I especially enjoyed the Blessings section. I read all of the blessings out loud, and I felt calmed, soothed, and elevated as I allowed myself to deeply receive all of those blessings.

If you regularly read my blog posts, then you know that I post blessings for you on Fridays… Tomorrow I will share a few blessings from Reaching for Orange, from the section of blessings to help with depression. Whether or not you feel depressed, you can enjoy tomorrow’s uplifting blessings.

Unfortunately today is worse than yesterday, so thankfully this afternoon I am going to see my new doctor. I am hoping for a diagnosis that will help me to better understand this body. If you feel inspired to send me some good thoughts, healing energies, blessings, prayers, magical mojo, or whatnot, I will gratefully receive them!

Alchemy of Abundance

In his book, Alchemy of Abundance: Aligning with the Energy of Desire to Manifest Your Highest Vision, Power, and Purpose, Rick Jarow, PhD, defines abundance as “fundamental well-being, a fulfillment that is not dependent on exterior conditions.” He says that abundance is about learning to trust life: “What we come to understand and affirm is that even through the most difficult circumstances of life, abundant beauty and richness may be found. It is our faith in the goodness and wisdom of things that allows us to work our way through life’s darkest moments. In this way, abundance is also faith in the basic goodness of life.”

The “alchemy” that Jarow describes is about interweaving your inner work (of “purifying base metal into gold”) with your external reality. Throughout this gem of a book he offers amazing insights and helpful tips for harnessing the inner forces and manifesting your visions.

And, the accompanying CD with guided meditations is a sparkling jewel! Jarow’s voice is very soothing and the background percussion music is outstanding. When you listen to the visualizations, it feels as if you are being taken on a profound shamanic journey!

Jarow writes, “The visualizations are designed to take you deeper into your own being, allowing you to uncover and examine the vast array of profound forces operating in your life as you begin to hear the music of the spheres in the walk-a-day world.”

I highly recommend this book and CD. The tracks on the CD are designed so that you can listen to them individually, so you could just do one per day… But what I like to do is set aside a few hours, and do some writing after each track. Each time I work with this book and CD, the experience is very uplifting and inspiring. I would love to hear about your experiences with it also…

Dear readers, as I shared in my June 1st post, “Shifting Focus and Starting Fresh,” I am only blogging occasionally this month of June, so that I can focus primarily on writing the next book… Reaching for Orange: Practices, Visualizations, & Blessings to Help You Happy Up Your Life.

This week I have very much enjoyed working on this next book, and one evening during my sitting meditation practice, I heard: “This book, Reaching for Orange, is going to be life-changing and important for many people.” Well, we shall see if that will be true! In any case, I can hardly wait to share this next book with you! In Reaching for Orange you will learn many ways to harness the strength of your Happy Orange place inside.

As I’m writing Reaching for Orange, in my daily life I am doing many of the practices suggested in the book, so what you will read in its pages is infused with my practical understanding of the information.

My current affirmation comes from a recent blog post, “Guided Imagery for Shifting Negative Thoughts”… I have been saying this daily: “I am on the Sunshine Train… God is driving, and all I have to do is relax in my happy seat, and do some writing, and trust that all is heading in the right direction!”

Guided Imagery for Shifting Negative Thoughts

Here comes the Sunshine Train!

How often do you witness negative thoughts going through your mind? Are you aware of what triggers negative thoughts for you? How quickly do you shift negative thoughts into positive thoughts?

Last night a simple little thing happened that set off a chain of negative thoughts in my mind. Because I have established a long pattern of cultivating the witness, I watched those thoughts quickly spiraling deeper into negativities, and I thought, “Wow, that’s a really dark train!”

I laughed to myself, thinking that yes indeed, that “train of thoughts” was very black and heading into a dark black tunnel… and that’s when I thought, “Good-bye dark train… Here comes the Sunshine Train!” Spontaneously I visualized a cheerful train filled with Sunlight… and I imagined that God was driving the Sunshine Train, and all I had to do was surrender and take my happy seat… then I mused that my small self had been driving the dark train, but on the Sunshine Train, my higher self could just relax and trust that all is heading in the right direction!

You can use this visualization anytime you notice a negative train of thoughts beginning to chug through your mind… Simply banish the dark train into a black tunnel… and get on the Sunshine Train! You can visualize your Sunshine Train to be however you like… paint it in your favorite colors… decorate it in your personal style… and notice who is driving your Sunshine Train… and is there any music playing on your happy train? Is coffee being served?

I hope this funny little visualization helps you to shift your negative trains of thought into positive trains of thought! This is yet one more way to help Happy Up your life! Choo, choo!! 🙂
